Museum of African American History
The Abiel Smith School (1835) is the oldest public school still standing in the United States that was built for the sole purpose of educating African American children. The first African Meeting House (1806) is the oldest extant black church building in the nation. The MAAH offers tours of the buildings as well as of Beacon Hill, which was the heart of 19th Century Black Boston and Abolitionism.

Sacco and Vanzetti plaque
This small plaque commemorates the location of the Sacco and Vanzetti Defense Committee, which operated in the heart of the Italian neighborhood of the North End. The SVDC papers are held in the rare books department of the Boston Public Library, where you can see their letters, death masks and comingled ashes. The Industrial Workers of the World often held rallies in the North End of Boston.
